Open book exam – FSC 1
An open book examination which can be completed from home or any other safe and suitable location. Students are presented with a scenario that describes a realistic workplace and situation. Students will then be asked to carry out a series of tasks using evidence presented in the scenario as well as the underpinning knowledge they have gained through their studies.
From the time they start the assessment, they have 24 hours to download, complete, and submit their assessment for marking but the paper itself should take 4-5 hours in total.
Exam dates for your open book assessment are in February, May, August and November.
If you choose to add your exams to your enrolment with Open Study College, we will book and pay for your assessments for you. If you do not add the exams option to your enrolment, you will be responsible for booking and paying for your assessments if you wish to achieve the qualification.
Practical assessment – FSC 2
A practical fire risk assessment has been developed around fire risk assessment standards such as the Home Office fire guidance and PAS79-1:2020.
The time needed to complete the fire risk assessment is not restricted but it should take the student around three hours to complete and provide a good quality fire risk assessment.
Please note, if you cannot use your current workplace for your practical assessment for whatever reason, you can choose an alternative place of work such as a family member or friend’s workplace.
Dates for your practical assessment are February, May, August, and November.
